SPI’s Evaluation of the Film and Television Sector in Hertsmere Published

An OlsbergSPI (SPI) study to assess the production environment in Hertsmere and map the borough’s existing production offer has been published by Hertsmere Borough Council.

The study assesses the screen production environment in the borough of Hertsmere and situates it within the regional, national, and global industry contexts. To achieve this, the study addresses UK and global market forces and maps established and developing elements of the screen production sector in Hertsmere, including infrastructure and training provision. It also identifies the key strengths, challenges, and opportunities for the borough.

The Hertsmere area includes Elstree Studios, a key centre for the UK screen sector, and a location with a rich heritage in film and television, as well as BBC Elstree and the new Sky Studios Elstree. The study made five key recommendations to capitalise on the history and experience already existent in the borough and further develop and enhance Hertsmere’s production offer.
