Webinar Recording: Rethinking International Co-production
Olsberg•SPI (SPI) has published the recording of the latest webinar in its Beyond the Screen series, ‘Rethinking International Co-production’.
The webinar explored how international co-production is evolving in response to a changing global screen market. While co-production has long played an important role in financing film and television, the discussion considered how international partnerships are also being used to manage risk, access new markets and audiences, strengthen creative and commercial relationships, and create longer-term value for producers.
Moderated by SPI Consultant Kayleigh Hughes, the panel brought together screen sector experts Laura Churchill, CEO & Film Commissioner at PictureNL; Tamara Tatishvili, Head of the Hubert Bals Fund; and Teresa McGrane, COO at Wild Atlantic Pictures.
The panellists discussed why co-production matters in today’s market, what makes an international partnership genuinely worthwhile, what co-production can create beyond the individual project, and how international relationships and structures are evolving.
Drawing on perspectives from Canada and Europe, the panel also touched on the role of established treaty relationships, wider industry networks and the importance of building long-term international connections.
