Economic Impact Assessment of Utah’s Rural Film Incentive Program

Partner: Utah Film Commission

Location: Utah, USA

SPI has been commissioned by the Utah Film Commission to conduct a comprehensive data study of Utah’s Rural Film Incentive Program.

Utah’s Motion Picture Incentive Program (MPIP), launched in 2011, has played a key role in developing the state’s film and television production sector. SPI’s study will assess the holistic impact of this regional incentive uplift, including overall economic impacts for the state and specific benefits for rural counties. The analysis will include quantitative modelling of individual project impacts, qualitative case studies, and strategic insights into the value of production for rural communities.

This new study builds on SPI’s previous work in Utah. Commissioned by the Motion Picture Association of Utah and the Utah Film Commission, SPI evaluated the economic impact of Utah’s Film and Television Incentive Programme.
