Watch: SPI Webinar Understanding Screen Production Capacity

OlsbergSPI (SPI) has published the latest edition of the Beyond the Screen by SPI webinar series, which explored how screen agencies and governments can assess availability of some key elements of screen production capacity, and plan to support sustainable long-term growth.

This episode, titled “Understanding Screen Production Capacity ”, aired on 9th July 2026 and examined practical approaches to evaluating workforce, infrastructure, services and supply chain readiness across the screen sector.

Hosted by SPI Consultant Kayleigh Hughes and featuring Screen Australia’s Chief Operating Officer Grainne Brunsdon, the webinar explored SPI’s Production Infrastructure and Capacity Analysis (PICA) service through the lens of a recent study of Australia’s screen production sector. The discussion examined how jurisdictions can identify strengths and constraints across their production ecosystems and use evidence-based analysis to inform strategic planning and investment decisions.

Drawing on findings from the Australian PICA study, the conversation highlighted the importance of understanding not only physical infrastructure capacity, but also workforce pipelines, skills development, business scalability and wider ecosystem readiness to support future production growth.

The webinar concluded with a discussion on the challenges and opportunities associated with managing growth in an increasingly competitive global production landscape, and the lessons that may be relevant to screen sectors worldwide.
