SPI Announces New Free Webinar and Publication on the Economic Ripple Effects of Film and Television Production
Groundbreaking work undertaken by Olsberg•SPI (SPI) on assessing the economic ripple effects of film and television production spend is the subject of a new free webinar, to take place on 17th July at 5pm UK / 6pm CEST / 8pm GST / 9am PDT. Webinar attendees will have exclusive pre-publication access to SPI’s forthcoming handbook, providing evidence on how production spend drives impact in other economic sectors.
Beyond the Screen: The Economic Ripple Effects of Film and Television Production will explore how film and television production is a complex, high-value process that drives demand across a wide range of sectors, not just within the screen sector itself, but across the broader economy. Beyond generating jobs, expenditure, and growth within the film and television industry, production activity stimulates a much wider ecosystem that spans multiple economic sectors and geographies.
According to SPI’s bespoke Ripple Analysis methodology, developed and implemented in jurisdictions around the world, up to 47% of production expenditure can create economic ripple effects in sectors beyond film and television. Further, expenditure from a single production can be evidenced across neighbourhoods, cities, regions, and countries.
This robust evidence of impact has proven highly valuable in communicating the significance of the screen sector to stakeholders.
The webinar will feature renowned UK producer Steve Clark-Hall in conversation with SPI’s Senior Research Analyst Emma Openshaw, offering practical insights and data-led analysis. This will include a Q&A session.
