INTERACTIVE MEDIA - Olsberg|SPI has been retained to conduct a number of assignments that relate to issues of the new digital economy - particularly regarding digital content production. We are particularly aware of the importance of working across film, broadcast and interactive media and are advocates of cross-sector innovation.

STRATEGIC DIRECTIONS FOR THE FILM AND TV INDUSTRY IN VICTORIA
Film Victoria, Australia
SPI, together with LEK Consulting, has been commissioned by Australian media development agency, Film Victoria, to develop a strategic directions paper outlining how the state of Victoria can develop and sustain its film and television industry. As part of the assignment, SPI conducted an analysis of international industry trends and designed and delivered a series of client and industry workshops in Australia.

RIGHTS AND IPR FEASIBILITY STUDY FOR SOUTH WEST SCREEN
South West Screen
SPI was commissioned to conduct a feasibility study to evaluate potential business models available to content producers for television and digital platforms in the South West region. In doing so, SPI focused on new opportunities for rights exploitation that arise from the recently passed Communications Act as well as from recommendations concerning Digital Rights Management (“DRM”) outlined by the Broadband Stakeholders Group. In concluding, SPI recommended a set of strategic objectives and action points for the region’s media cluster groups.

EM MEDIA - EAST MIDLANDS DIGITAL MEDIA CLUSTER ACCELERATION STUDY
EM Media
SPI was recently retained by EM Media to assist in the creation of an agenda for the support of the region's digital media cluster. Specifically, the assignment consisted of a review of existing support structures, an identification of appropriate interventions for the sector and an outline of possible impacts from such support. As part of the assignment SPI conducted numerous consultations with industry professionals and representatives from sector initiatives and government bodies.

NEW MEDIA MARKET ASSESSMENT
Advantage West Midlands
This study for Advantage West Midlands aims to identify new markets for regional new media content producers, recognising opportunities locally, nationally and internationally, with a particular reference to the relevance of the New Media Quarter in Eastside.

NORTHERN IRELAND'S DIGITAL FILM ARCHIVE
NIFTC
The NIFTC has created a digital film archive (DFA) containing moving images from throughout the last century on a variety of themes. They hired us to create a development strategy for this innovative initiative with many applications in the educational and other areas.

INTERNET STRATEGY
British Screen Advisory Council
We advised Britain’s leading film and television trade organisation on issues concerning how the internet could further BSAC’s goals and objectives. This assignment resulted in the review of some fundamental issues regarding the organisation’s business purpose, activities and membership.

RESEARCH CENTRE FOR TV AND INTERACTIVITY
Scottish Enterprise Glasgow
An assignment for Scottish Enterprise Glasgow involving an evaluation of the goals and objectives of the Research Centre and its success in meeting them, especially with regard to the Glasgow/ Strathclyde region and the ERDF outputs associated with that region. This work involved detailed discussions with Glasgow production companies as to their development strategies including new media strategies.

THE BIG PICTURE 2 CONFERENCE, GALWAY
Enterprise Ireland
We designed and moderated a two day conference in Galway focusing on the way in which changes in technology will affect Ireland’s film and television sector. The conference examined the subject from a business, financial and creative standpoint. The conference attracted over two hundred film industry and new media professionals from Ireland and included high profile speakers from Lucas Digital, Compaq and Next Wave Films.
